RED BULL : BC ONE CYPHER UK
BREAKDANCE SPECTACULAR
I worked as the Broadcast Manager and Project Manager on two Flux broadcasts of Red Bull's BC One Cypher in the UK (2019-2020). A 'Cypher' is the name given to the circle that breakdancers form to battle it out through dance.
Finding a venue that can fit the custom stage, broadcast team and energetic crowd is always a difficulty. I would 3D model the venue to make sure all our camera shots would look correct.
B-BOYS AND B-GIRLS
Always a lively event, the crowd is made up of dancers and supporters. Many have taken part in the competition and everyone is keen to see the winners for both men and women. It is often difficult for the cameramen to catch their shots in the rowdy crowd.
SNG / LiveU to Austria
Red Bull Media House in Salzburg often require a satellite feed or LiveU link to get the HQ footage as fast as possible so they can distribute it to their platforms quickly.
I would arrange onsite satellite trucks or LiveU setups for my engineers to handle. Cable runs and venue connectivity were always a high priority for these setups.
